One of the tools Cameron built with Mettle's APIs is a preference generator. This tool starts by figuring out a person's specific sustainability preferences through a chatbot conversation. Then, it looks at how those preferences fit into bigger groups—called “tribes” or “personalities.” Knowing your tribe helps you see where you fit in, and it helps pension funds talk to their members in a way that feels more relevant.

The first thing is your profile. Based on your latest conversation, Cameron builds your sustainability profile. You can see the overall results, the results broken down, a summary of the conversation. So it's clear and transparent how Cameron thinks.

Based on early research, Cameron identified four Gen Z sustainable investor tribes: Planet People, Justice Crew, Clean Team, and Impact Dream. Once someone's tribe is identified, Cameron compares it to the pension scheme's default fund, a more sustainable alternative (if one exists), and other sustainable options in the market. Finally, it shows the best matches between each tribe and the available funds.
