Checkpoint: Building thought leadership and brand recognition in the gaming industry
Checkpoint used Mettle’s Open Source Sustainability Intelligence to publish a definitive white paper on the ESG challenges facing the gaming industry. Since its release, Powering Up has been downloaded 789 times and viewed 3116 times.
Checkpoint is a leading voice on the impact of videogames across society, culture, education, and politics. With over 30 million listens across Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more, it ranks among the top 5% most-shared podcasts on Spotify.
Tamer Asfahani, Editor-in-Chief, set out to write a white paper on gaming’s positive role in mental health, online safety, and education. But credible, company-level ESG data was hard to find.
Tamer Asfahani, Editor-in-Chief:
“Having access to company data in the format Mettle provides allowed us to verify trends against news coverage and sector-specific activity.”
Checkpoint needed objective, industry-wide sustainability data not typically available in the public domain. Through the startup ecosystem at Brunel University, they found Mettle — able to deliver tailored datasets at a fraction of the cost of traditional consultancies.
“Mettle made the whole process easy — from the research and understanding the data, through to drafting the final report.”
The result was Powering Up: a breakthrough report that explored the sustainable future of one of the UK’s fastest-growing creative sectors.
“The white paper had exactly the effect we wanted. It opened up a vital debate on the credibility of the industry as a stakeholder partner — and it positioned Checkpoint right at the centre of that conversation.”
Tamer Asfahani:
“Mettle is the future of sustainability intelligence. They are genuine experts in this emerging field.”
