Sentiment Analysis for Sustainable Investing
🚀 After a quiet period of building behind the scenes, we’re excited to share that Mettle Capital has secured funding from the UKFin+ Agile programme for our latest initiative:
News Sentiment Analysis for Sustainable Investing
In collaboration with Prof Paresh Date, Head of Department of Mathematics, Brunel University London, this project will explore how market narratives shaped by news, sentiment, and social perception can be better understood and integrated into investment decision-making.
It’s well known that markets move on sentiment, yet accurately modelling sentiment over time has proven famously difficult. This project tackles that challenge head-on, demonstrating Mettle’s commitment to solving complex problems in sustainable investing.
Supported by the UKFin+ Network as part of their spotlight on RegTech, Resilience & Compliance, the collaboration brings together academic rigour and market application to address one of the most urgent challenges in sustainable finance: connecting real-world sustainable investing signals with efficient capital allocation.
We will develop algorithms for:
📌quantifying the news sentiment information about various sustainability issues material for any individual company 📌correlating this information to share price 📌carrying out feature importance analysis to rank materiality drivers for a company
A big thank you to UKFin+ Network for backing bold collaborations that bring industry and academia together. For more information, please visit the UKFin+ page.
Stay tuned, more updates coming as the project develops 🔔
